    Hello, I know this post is old, but I figured you may have some updated and informed info for me. I’m currently using Wilson NXT Multifilament 16 gauge and love the feel at 57 pounds of tension. I’m thinking about soft polys and was curious between Tour Bite Soft, Luxilon 4G soft and Luxilon Element Soft IR. Would you happen to have any thoughts/comparisons of the three and what tension? I’m a hard swinger for what it’s worth. Thanks for any insight! Love your reviews!

    The caring about the environment is BS. If we cared about the environment we wouldn't play tennis or figure a way to have balls that can be used for a year, recycled and the same thing with string. Seems every product now has a fake cause to make us want to buy it. Good review and info.

    Tennis is a little boys game. Try pickleball. I play at ccv and could smoke you guys in tennis or pickleball. I played at uva div1. 4.0 is silly boy stuff. The reason you guys aren’t making money is you can’t attack corners and the serves are elementary. Never mind, I’m not playing with you guys.

    I tried 4g soft for the first time today, strung at 44lbs in a Wilson Ncode six one 95 18x20 and it was buttery smooth. I hit with eastern one handed backhand and semi-western forehand and I supply my own power so I was worried these string would fly on me at low tension that I like, but that did not happen. I was actually surprised at the access to spin I had when I wanted it, but more so the feel on slices and volleys were excellent for a poly. Also, these strings were very predictable and precise. Not too powerful or too muted and underpowered. Tried it side by side with Solinco Confidential at the same tension and racket, but I quickly put it down and opted for the Lux. I didn’t hate Confidential, but the feel wasn’t as good on slice as with the 4g soft, and that is very important to me.

    Klip gut is fine. The problem with people who complain about Kilp gut is that they don’t know what they are doing. Kilp gut is a firm gut. No need for pre stretch. Nowaday, it is better to string Klip gut on the mains and poly on the crosses. Strung poly 2-4 pounds lower than the gut. By doing this, you let the gut slide over the poly. Resulting in a lot more spin.

    If you play with spin, this is a very good string for few hours. But if you play with any type of flatish shots, then it is a horrible string. Extremely launchy on flat shots and very inconsistent across the bed. Surprisingly, it plays much much better at lower tension but only for a couple of hours and if you only take big chops.

    I have yet to watch this, but from my experience, it depends on where the two players lie on the NTRP system. You can have a 4.0 who is at the bottom of a 4.0 ladder, and a 4.5 at the top of his 4.5 ladder. They are totally 2 different abilities. But, a 4.0 who wins his ladder against the bottom-dweller in a 4.5, is an even match. We'll see. I'll be back after watching....I'm back....Well, you two are really super players! Rob is definitely a 4.0 league/tourney-winner and proved here he should be playing 4.5. Blake is more polished with a more offensive game and is a solid 5.0 league/tourney winner, who could definitely win in D1 college play. I enjoyed your points and the competitiveness each of you have. BTW - I have the Blade V8, and just got Blade V9. Great racquets. Thanks, guys for the post. It was fun watching.

  • @IvanITpro
    @IvanITpro 2 месяца назад

    What I learned from stringing my own racquets is that all strings have a different weight to them, even the guage/thickness of the same string matters. This may throw off the balance of the racquet, make it head light/heavy just from a string. When I've cut strings out, I would weight them and thus far a full be of a 98 sq in 16x19 racquet could range from 12 grams to 20 grams. Even 4 grams of a difference matters. Couldn't figure out why the Yonex strings never quite worked for me, they were on the heavier side. Sticking to Babolat... RPM Rough is my go to ;)

    my biggest problem is knowing how tight my clamps should be. Its a hard balance between too tight and denting the strings and too loose and having them slip through. I just bought a starting clamp which I am about to use will that be a big help?

    I'm going to guess you're both actually between 3.95 to 4.2 I played both levels many years and from the points as a 4.0 you are right there on the cusp of transitioning to 4.5. Blake is of course playing great but as he said he started at 4.0 and now must be around the middle level. I played people on the tail end of the 4.5 bracket and they really start to feel very different in terms of power. Great match!

    Rob is a strong 4.0. I am qualified to say this because I have seen 4.0 players my whole life. Rob, your shots are good. But on your backhand slice, you need to get all your weight on that right foot BEFORE you start your swing. You need to lean into the slice. You can see what I mean at 8:40 where you hit a couple of slices. Good athleticism in general, though!

    I really love tennis. I think part of it has to do with stringing my own racquets and doing my own customization. Just now I took a new racquet and measured the balance point with it's twin and guess what? 1/2" difference. So more mods coming to those sticks. Anyway on stringing I can't stress enough the tip about getting ready. Getting ready to make the 1st cut. Yes it has to be in the right place, but what are you going to do with the remaining? Some strings will stay coiled while others-mostly shaped and god forbid twisted strings-will unwind in an un-ruley way that you'll never get sorted. So just be prepared in all aspects. The other point I don't think you covered was Straightening the crosses. Every customer will judge a string job by how straight the crosses are, my technique is to push them all the way up prior to tensioning and then straighten after tension. This makes my job longer but I have almost 0 time afterwards trying to make it look "right".
